It was terrific to hear from Tim, who recently cycled the Central West Cycle Trail on a supported tour. Tim's trip departed in late 2022 at a time of wild weather in NSW, but as you'll find out, the group had a superb time exploring the Central West.

As a reasonably new, albeit 80-year-old, cyclist; I had no idea what to expect. 

 

Overall, the trip exceeded my expectations, which were very high. Australian Cycle Tours is an outstanding organisation and had top service in every respect. 

 

As a senior touring cyclist, the escorted tour was the obvious best choice. This was because I could concentrate on the cycling and the breathtaking environment; rather than the organisation of accommodation and navigation. Well done, I loved it. I had no trouble maintaining the pace of the group.

 

Shawn Flannery, the trip escort, put in a great effort, had a positive attitude and had obvious detailed knowledge of the various routes. These made such a difference and his personal attention to detail was exceptional.

His commitment to the best possible experience for all guests was outstanding. Especially considering that most of the areas travelled were seriously affected by the floods. He ensured that all cyclist's desires were accommodated.

 

The rearrangements of the overall route, e.g. commencing with Wellington as the first (albeit longest leg), made the trip better for every level of cyclist.

I understand that some of the accommodation venues are under review, I would agree that a couple of the accommodation venues need to be upgraded; but overall most were very comfortable and close to meal venues for easy access [editors note: we're constantly improving our tours based on traveller feedback].
